Refund & Cancellation Policy

Last updated: 6 October 2026

This policy explains how Acadevis handles cancellations, transfers and refunds for its online programmes. It is intended as a clear business policy and remains subject to applicable Sri Lankan consumer-protection law and any other mandatory legal requirements.

The policy is designed to be commercially workable for an online institute while avoiding a blanket “no refunds under any circumstances” position.

1. Cancellation Before the Programme Starts

A student may request cancellation before the first scheduled class. Where the cancellation is accepted before the programme starts, Acadevis will normally refund the course fee paid, subject to any clearly disclosed and lawfully recoverable third-party transaction costs that cannot reasonably be recovered.

2. Cancellation After Classes Have Started

Once the first scheduled class has taken place, course fees are generally non-refundable because teaching, scheduling, administration and learning resources may already have been committed. This does not limit any refund, remedy or other entitlement that applies under mandatory law.

3. Monthly Academic Programmes

For programmes charged monthly, each paid month is treated as a separate period of enrolment. If the first class of a paid month has already taken place, the fee for that month will normally not be refundable, subject to applicable law and any specific written arrangement agreed with Acadevis.

4. Transfer Instead of Cancellation

Where reasonably possible, a student may request a transfer to another available intake or programme of similar value. Transfers are subject to availability and operational requirements and are not automatic. Any difference in programme fee should be agreed before the transfer is confirmed.

5. If Acadevis Cancels a Programme

If Acadevis cancels a programme before it begins and cannot provide a suitable alternative, the student may choose an available transfer or request a refund of the amount paid for the cancelled programme.

6. Schedule Changes and Class Interruptions

Reasonable changes to class dates, times, instructors or online platforms may occasionally be necessary. Acadevis will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative session or suitable arrangement. A reasonable schedule change by itself does not automatically create a right to a refund.

7. Institute-Side Technical Problems

If a significant technical problem on the Acadevis side prevents a scheduled session from being delivered, Acadevis will make reasonable efforts to reschedule the session or provide a suitable alternative. Where a service cannot reasonably be delivered, Acadevis will consider an appropriate remedy consistent with the programme arrangements and applicable law.

8. Student-Side Technical Problems and Missed Classes

Students are responsible for having a suitable device, internet connection and access to the required platforms. Personal internet or device problems, failure to attend, or late joining normally do not create a refund entitlement. Acadevis may provide guidance or a recording/alternative resource where available.

9. Duplicate or Incorrect Payments

If a payment is accidentally duplicated or incorrectly charged, the student should contact Acadevis promptly with the payment reference and proof of payment. Verified duplicate or erroneous charges will be reviewed for reversal or refund.

10. Payment Provider Charges, Currency and International Payments

For payments made through a third-party provider, refunds will normally be processed through the original payment method where practical. Processing time may depend on the provider or financial institution. Currency conversion, bank charges and international transaction costs may affect the amount received by a student where permitted by the applicable payment arrangement and law.

11. How to Request a Cancellation or Refund

  1. Contact us: send the request to Acadevis via WhatsApp on 077 731 6564.
  2. Provide details: include your name, programme, payment date, reason for the request and payment reference/proof where available.
  3. Review: Acadevis will review the request against this policy, the programme arrangements and applicable law.
  4. Outcome: Acadevis will confirm whether a refund, transfer or another resolution applies.

12. Refund Timing

Where a refund is approved, Acadevis will normally initiate it within a reasonable administrative period and return it using the original payment method where practical or another mutually agreed method. The time taken for funds to appear may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.

13. Statutory Rights

This policy does not remove or restrict any consumer right, refund entitlement, remedy or legal protection that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. If applicable law provides a different entitlement, that legal entitlement will take precedence.

14. International Students

If Acadevis accepts students outside Sri Lanka, mandatory consumer, payment, tax or other rights in the customer's jurisdiction may apply in addition to this policy. The Institute will review its international sales terms as overseas operations are introduced.

15. Contact

For cancellation, refund or transfer requests, contact Acadevis Institute via WhatsApp on 077 731 6564.
